The man charter in this book is brave bess she is a horse that went to war and she was the only horse to make it back to new zealand but when she got back she died I think it is really sad how when she gets back she dies because you would think it would have a happy ending I would have to say that this book would be age 10 and up because it about war and if you would like to know more about war this would be a good book for you.

If I was brave Bess and I had to write a letter to some one this is wat I would say
It's been a week at war I'm scared what if some think happens to me what if they forget about me some horses and people have died all ready what I'm next what if we don't win. I'm a horse it not like I can go up to them and say that I didn't want to go to war I can't say I want to go home
